Mother's Day: Appreciation Post ♥

For everyone who lives in Australia, you will know that Sunday the 10th is no other than Mother's Day. So I thought it would be appropriate to do a last minute Mother's Day gift guide! Now if you are one of those people that always find yourself leaving things until the last minute or just have to much going on around you to really give yourself the time it takes to find a perfect gift, don't stress, I've got you covered. If you are like me and always dream big, you'll find it hard to find that perfect gift, but what I have found through the endless little chats with my mum, is that mums in general prefer a thoughtful gift over an expensive one. Now don't get me wrong, if I had endless amounts of money, I would have booked me and my mum a trip to New York City, maybe do dinner and a show, take her shopping and let her pick out whatever she wants and end the night with a firework show that we could watch from the top of the Empire State building, but I'm not a bank. So unfortunately I have to reel in my ideas and pick a gift I can actually accomplish and I know she'll love. So from me to you, my top 5 Mother's Day gift guide...

1. Now if you don't want to be conventional and give an actual wrapped up gift, then how about the perfect day out? Take a camera, snap some pics, make some memories that you and your mum can think back on for years to come. Pack up a picnic, bring a bottle of bubbles, get her in the car and drive her to the prettiest place you can think of. A park, a beach, a spot that you can look over the city? It's up to you. Set out a blanket and have some of that precious Mother/Daughter time that doesn't come around too often. She'll look back on that day and thank herself that she has those memories to cherish.

2. For the creative mind, do something outside of the box. Make your mum a video, whether it be of just you or you get your siblings involved, make your mum something that she can watch until her hearts content. I remember one year for Mother's Day, I got the video camera out and made a cover of a song my mum loves. I sang for her and the lyrics were so close to home, I felt like I had wrote the song especially for her. She loved it.

3. Okay, for the shopper. Get down to the closest shopping mall with a list of things your mum will love. My mum is a PJ's hoarder, every time I ask her what gift she would love to receive, her answer is a good pair of pyjamas. I don't blame her, I mean a cosy pair of PJ's go a long way. Another thing you could buy her is a lovely piece of jewellery, one that she could wear everyday, so that when she looks at it, she is reminded of you and if you want to take it a step further, get it engraved with a favourite quote or just a simple 'I Love You' would be perfect!

4. For the DIY guru, get your thinking caps on and get down and dirty with your gift. Think of something that your mum would love and the fact that you have made it with your own two hands would make it even more special! My suggestion? Candles! My mum adores candles, honestly, she falls in love and I have to say, she has passed on the gene. There is just something about having a lovely low lit room and the scent of your favourite candle burning through. It is so relaxing and when she lights the wick, and the flame burns brightly, it will remind her of how much brightness and love she brings into your life.

5. If your a little tight on money, don't panic, the good thing is you could tell your mum how much you love her and she would be happier than if you gave her any gift. The truth is, and my mum has taught and told me this a million times, having you there, in your mums life, is a gift in itself, watching you grow and turn into something she is proud to call her child, that is a true gift. So spend the day together, make her dinner, draw her a relaxing bath and hug her goodnight, and I guarantee, your mum will go to sleep with a smile on her face, wishing she could hug you again and next time for that second longer than the last.

The Positivity Act: Actively Choosing A Better Lifestyle!

Staying positive all the time is difficult, I know this. I have been through my fair share of dark days, and some days you have an excuse to avoid all human contact but some days you wake up and you just aren't feelin' it. It's hard to look at life with a positive outlook when most of the time you are brought down by situations and some of the people you surround yourself with. And what makes it all harder is it is much easier to be brought down throughout the average day than be pulled up. Depression, anxiety, stress and judgement are all around us, we know that, and as upsetting as that is, it's the gods honest truth. And what's worse is humans seem to be developing a characteristic of avoiding conflict; avoiding anything that could mess up the status quo. When in reality we could all use a little bit of positivity so that we can infinitely enjoy those happy vibes.

I have suffered from anxiety for quite a while now, and like most people who suffer, I have mastered being able to mask it. I know that no one wants to see someone struggling but I also know that most people actually don't care if they are not affected first hand. I went through my hardest time right after high school graduation, I moved away from my local area so I lost touch with a lot of the people I went to school with. After the move, I found myself feeling insignificant and this was when I started doubting myself, and ever since it's been a struggle to get back into a confident and happy place. I just started to tell myself that I've grown older, and while going out on my own ventures, I have just grown apart from the people I used to spend a lot of time with. So with that, I needed to push myself into putting in the effort to let all it go, and I did. I have let go of all the sadness, the anger, the confusion, and blaming myself. Letting go and coming to peace with a situation, one at a time, is the best thing you can do for yourself. So I am learning and still trying to live a life filled with love, support and gratitude, for the people who are there, that constantly give me the pep talk that I need every once in a while.

So I pitch to you, the positivity act. Turn the struggle into something that motivates you too strive for a happier lifestyle. I want this in my life, I want to be a successful in regards to being a positively infused human and I want to project that into the people I come into contact with. So after research, trial & error, long chats and too many cups of tea, I have come up with some different ways that you can inject a bit more happiness into your life.

Step One: Choose Positivity

Now I had always been a pessimist, I chose to see what could go wrong, or the bad things that could happen and without realising it, you can actually create some of that negativity just by choosing to find it. So why not do the same, but the opposite? Actively look for the positives in every situation. Share your happiness, make someone feel better about themselves, be there for someone who needs you. You control your attitude, no can take that from you.

Step Two: Do Things That Make You Happy

Make yourself feel better; this was a big one, if you are feeling down, go and do something that you guarantee, will cheer you up. If you love baking, make some cupcakes. If you love exercise, go for a walk along the beach. And if you just want to snuggle up with a good book and a hot tea, go do it!

Step Three: Get Rid Of Any Surrounding Negativity

You need to make a conscious effort to separate yourself from people who are a constant negative influence on your life. Now this may be one of the hardest things you will have to do, because these people could be people you love or people you spend a lot of time with. There was a few people in my life that always brought me down, so I decided to separate myself from them, and it was the best decision I ever made. Trust me, it will be hard at first but you'll be so much happier in the long run.

Guys. Stop what you are doing unless its solely giving this blog post your full dedicated attention. Think of your skin, it will sincerely thank me later, I promise. Now by all means, I'm not insinuating that all skin is in trouble, but we all need a little help every so often, whether it's an acne scar or a spot that has stubbornly decided to set up camp on your face the day before a big event. If this sounds like a situation that you keep finding yourself in, keep reading. Although if you are one of the abnormal people, that has always has perfect skin and gives every person who looks at you ~~a bit~~ a lot of envy and you just want a good skincare routine, these products are your answer. This stuff is a holy grail. I know I am a little late jumping on the band wagon for the Liz Earle brand, but I put it down to stupidly thinking nothing could be that good after years of searching for a product that won't let me down. I was clearly highly mistaken, and I'm never turning back, I'm clinging to this stuff for dear life until my skin decides to finally show me some love, seen as we've been in a one sided relationship for 19 years.

So if you are going for the simple, quick solution to showing your skin some love, these are the products you want pick up. The cleanse and polish, this stuff you guys, it's just so beautiful. With organic and naturally active ingredients, including rosemary, chamomile, eucalyptus essential oil and cocoa butter, it gives your skin an extremely gentle and non abrasive daily clean. Paired with the Liz Earle muslin cloth, which is a gentle exfoliator itself, it gives you the best refreshing cleanse possible. After cleansing your skin with the C&P, grab up a cotton pad and follow up with the Instant Boost Skin Tonic. Apply to your 'T' zone and any problem areas and follow through down your neck. After allowing this to dry, pump yourself some skin repairing moisturiser, specifically made for your skin type, I'm been blessed with an oily complexion (if only you could hear the sarcasm). Exfoliate before using the C&P too get rid of any dead skin cells and to have super duper soft skin!
